Often, we move in habitual patterns created in our youth, or as a result of injury. These foundational habits have limitations that are slowly eroding our musculoskeletal health. Pain or discomfort indicate that we are off balance. Unfortunately, typical exercise programs often reinforce these outdated patterns, leaving you in even more discomfort or pain.

However, there is a way to retrain your movement. Feldenkrais® is an educational process that guides you to move smoother, safer, and smarter. The Feldenkrais Method® of sensory-motor learning improves the balance of how you walk, lift, breathe, and more. It explores the nervous-system patterns that drive how you move, so that you may better organize your body for balanced, pain-free motion.

Karen’s 50-minute Awareness Through Movement® classes are done lying, sitting, and standing. She guides you to awaken your sensory awareness as you move through simple everyday actions. Methodically, you learn how to engage your whole self in each and every movement. When observing a young child turning, we witness the ideals of human motion. This child turns from head to toe, her muscular tone evenly distributed throughout her body. She has a sense of revolving around her center and is ready to move in any given direction. These are the ideals of the Feldenkrais Method®.

As an adult, you can revise habitual movement patterns that have been limiting your ability to move properly. Imagine moving with the freedom of a child, present, graceful, and powerful.
